Titanium Sheet/Plate

Pure titanium Grade 1 is characterized by very good ductility and, as a result, very good cold formability, which makes the material suitable for deep drawing. Titanium Grade 1 is known for its excellent general and seawater corrosion resistance and offers high corrosion resistance in oxidizing, neutral and mildly reducing media (solutions) including chlorides.

    Application Fields:

Titanium has high tensile strength, which gives it the high fatigue strength that provides long-term durability for custom bicycles as an example. Titanium can also take an impact without damaging the inherent structure of the tubes so the use of titanium ensures the bicycle will last a lifetime essentially. A well-designed titanium frameset will ensure a more comfortable ride over a variety of road surfaces according to experts.

A titanium bicycle frame with Grade 9 titanium can be welded in relatively unlimited ways, giving the fabricator flexibility to make a completely custom bicycle with for example a longer head tube or shorter reach. However, working with titanium requires a special skill level to weld and design. A well-made titanium frame is tough, durable, and will stand up well to corrosion. Titanium frames are also light, which makes it the ultimate road bike material. The one drawback for Grade 9 titanium across all industry applications can be cost. The material itself is ounce-to-ounce more costly than all other frame materials.

  • Grade Synonyms: Gr12, Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni, Grade12, UNS R53400, 3.7105
    Relevant Standard: ASTM B265

Description: Grade 12 (Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni ) demonstrates excellent strength at high temperatures, excellent weldability, and crevice corrosion resistance. This material is similar to Titanium Grade 2 and Grade 3 with the addition of Mo and Ni, which offers enhanced corrosion resistance. Grade 12 can be hot or cold formed using press brake forming, hydropress forming, stretch forming or drop hammer method. This materials ability to be formed in a various of ways makes Grade 12 useful in numerous applications, like High-temperature chemical production; Trays and heat exchangers.
